A Good Year for Macs

Apple Inc. announced a slew of new Mac computers this week including an iMac, Mac Mini, and MacBook Pros. Highlights include a redesigned Mac Mini, the M4 Pro chip, Thunderbolt 5, and a baseline of 16 GB of RAM across the entire Mac lineup. Weak points are include 256 GB of baseline storage and insane upgrade pricing. However, Apple kept the price the same while bumping the RAM and one would hope they would do the same for SSDs next year.

Previously, it was very hard to recommend the base model Mac. Instead of Good, Better, Best; it was handicapped, okay, good, better, best. I’m glad that it is easier to recommend the base model again, but the lack of a removal SSD needs a better baseline storage.

Overall, a great upgrade to the Macs and I’m looking forward to the reviews/benchmarks.
