Scrappy Subscriptions

Ars Technica reporting cable companies plus trade associations are trying to reverse FTC subscription cancellation rules. Currently it very easy to sign up for subscriptions, but very hard to unsubscribe from them. The FTC rules make it easy to unsubscribe, which is great for consumers! It’s ideal for these companies to keep the users that no longer want to use the service. Lower costs while still making money. Honestly, one of the best features of purchasing a subscription through the Apple App Store is easily being able to see all subscriptions and then cancel them. No customer retention conversations. Just cancel.

Unfortunately, The FTC’s rule was appealed to the loony toons at conservative 5th circuit court of appeals. I doubt they will side with the government and consumers. They are too result oriented. The 5th circuit will ignore the law/facts to come to their desired solution.
